In between intense downpours, we went fishing (we used summer sausage and chicken skin for bait), took rainwater showers and walked around the lake that we had all to ourselves. Ryan caught a small little bluegill that we threw back, and I caught a bass but the line broke right as I was getting it onshore (doh!). I made chicken tortilla soup that warmed us up, and we read books until we fell asleep to the sounds of thunder and lightning right above us.
Today we're on the road to Destin, FL, to visit Ryan's old boss. So far it looks as though the worst of the storms are behind us, but there's always the possibility that will change. For now though, it feels good to see some sunshine.
